Marvin Charles “Bobo” Baker was born August 1, 1949 to Stewart and Susie Mae Baker in Los Angeles, California. He was one of eight siblings. He was preceded in death by his father Stewart Baker, his mother Susie Mae Baker, his brothers James Baker, Tom Baker and Kelvin Baker, his sister Velma Baker, and his life long partner of 48 years Constance McKinney. His living siblings Mildred Carter, Paulette Baker, and Dwight Baker.
Marvin attended 11th Street Elementary School, Markham Junior High School, and David Starr Jordan High School. Shortly after Marvin and a few of his friends had organized the Student Committee For Improvement In Watts (SCFIW). Marvin was an H. Kramer & Company retiree for over 25 years. Marvin was a member of the Royal Aces Motorcycle Club, where he became the Vice President, and retired years later.
Marvin is survived by his wife Hyles Owens, his daughters LaShuan Baker, La Saundra Baker-Rabb (Torry), Markeesa Timmons (Damion); his sons Anthony McKinney (Angel), and Marquin Garrison. Grandchildren Brittany Baker, Damion Timmons, Jr., Kiera Timmons, Tyler Timmons, Jacob Timmons; great-grandchildren Zahmir Ricks (ZZ), Elijah Ricks (Buzz) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. On March 15, 2024 Marvin was granted his angel wings. His final days were spent with all his family who loved and cherished him.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 10am – 12 pm in Akes Family Funeral Home’s “Chapel Of The Chimes”
Chapel Blessing will follow at 12 noon.
