Roberto R. Garcia, 95 died peacefully in Corona, California on March 10, 2024.
Mr. Garcia was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. He proudly served his
country in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
He was born in El Paso, Texas, to Rodolfo and Maria Dolores R. Garcia
on November 24, 1928. He leaves behind his only daughter Maria T. (Terry)
Struble, son-in-law Scott Struble, two grand-daughters Roxann Struble and Pamela
Struble.
He enlisted in 1946 and was Honorably discharged in 1970. In 1947 he was
assigned to The USS Mansfield DD728 as a Gunners Mate. He was assigned as
Fighting Sea-Bee (Construction Batton). While in the South Pacific, he was assigned
to UDT-5 Underwater Demolition Unit, also known as “Frogmen” where he
dismantled and detonated water mines.
He was later assigned to the USS Alfred A. Cunningham, in 1963. While in Vietnam
he was then assigned and trained as a NAVY SEAL. He was known to his shipmates
as Gunner “Punch” Garcia, Seal Team 3.
In 1970 he retired from the service and returned to El Paso, Texas, where he lived,
until 2016. When Mr. Garcia reunited with his daughter, he moved to Corona,
California to live with his daughter and family.

Funeral Service will be on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 12:30 in the afternoon in Akes Family Funeral Home's "Chapel Of The Chimes", Riverside, California.
Graveside service will be at RIverside National Cemetery at 2:30 in the afternoon.
